Vegans in powerlifting competitions

March 3rd, 2009

Last week saw vegan powerlifters take to the platform in two continents in meets organised by Powerlifting Australia and the American Powerlifting Association. Noah Hannibal from MVS lifted in his first competition, and Eric Gribkoff from veganfitness.net smashed all his PBs in the APA 2009 Raw Northwestern Championships.

More iron, more pimp slaps, more rawr!

The first MVS training videos for 2009 are now up in the photo and video section, featuring multiple pimp slaps, random violence and several new PBs on squat, bench and deadlift.

The strongest vegans in the world

The 2009 Vegan Strength Table, where vegans around the world can post their powerlifting numbers, has just been posted at veganfitness.net

When the table began in 2004 the total of the top 10 lifters was 4,652.5kgs, it is now sitting on 6,236.5kgs and will no doubt rise more in 2009. The table is currently led by Jr with a big 715kg total (250kg squat, 185kg bench press and 280kg deadlift).

No MVS participants are currently in the top 10, though this is set to change with Hardcore Iv and Hannibal both gunning for 600kg plus totals.

MVS ended 2008 with an end of year pb smashing session. Over 100kgs were added to the collective MVS total. Videos are now up on the 2008 training photo page.
